“The center was graciously named by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. It serves as a collection and exhibition venue for award-winning artworks by young artists from Thailand and abroad. The complex includes both permanent and rotating exhibition halls, as well as art practice and training facilities.”
Founded in 1993, the Sirindhorn Art Center was established with the aim of serving as a hub for art education and cultural learning, providing a venue for displaying valuable and inspiring works of art created by students of Srisongkram Wittaya School and young artists from across the country. Over the years, it has played a vital role in inspiring new generations to appreciate the beauty of art and to develop their creativity and imagination through artistic expression.
Occupying over six rai (approximately 2.4 acres) of land, the center’s architecture harmoniously combines contemporary Thai design with an atmosphere of creativity and learning. The premises are divided into several key zones:
-
Permanent and Rotating Exhibition Halls – Featuring a diverse collection of paintings, mixed-media works, sculptures, and contemporary pieces by award-winning students and young artists at both national and international levels.
-
Art Workshop Building – A space for practical art training, workshops, and creative exchanges such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, and art design.
-
Art Library and Archive – A resource center housing books, journals, and multimedia related to art from both local and international sources, encouraging students to conduct self-directed research and learning.
-
Art Shop and Souvenir Corner – Offering artworks and handmade crafts for sale, providing a platform for young artists to showcase their talent and generate income from their creativity.
In addition to exhibitions, the Sirindhorn Art Center regularly hosts cultural and artistic events such as the annual Srisongkram Art Show, regional youth art competitions, summer art camps, and art training programs for teachers throughout Northeastern Thailand. It is not only an art exhibition space but also a “nurturing ground for future artists”, dedicated to developing young Thai artists to meet international standards.
The center continues to operate with support from both government and private sectors, as well as collaborations with art institutions across Thailand. Through these efforts, the Sirindhorn Art Center remains a lasting source of artistic inspiration and creative growth for Thai youth.
