“A natural limestone waterfall with around 10 cascading levels and a steady flow of water all year round. It is ideal for swimming, relaxing, and nature trekking, and serves as a vital headwater source within the Phu Kho–Phu Kratae National Forest Reserve.”
Huai Lao Waterfall Forest Park was established in 1997, covering an area of approximately 2,125 rai (about 340 hectares) within the Phu Kho–Phu Kratae National Forest Reserve. The area ranges in elevation from 200 to 800 meters above sea level and is mostly covered by mixed deciduous forest rich in biodiversity.
The waterfall stretches roughly 1 kilometer from top to bottom and consists of multiple levels (commonly reported as 9 or 10). Each level has its own distinct charm — some have shallow pools suitable for swimming, while others feature wide rocky platforms that make perfect picnic or relaxation spots. The uppermost levels offer panoramic views of the surrounding forested mountains, especially beautiful during the rainy and early winter seasons.
Visitors can follow a nature trail that runs alongside the stream, allowing exploration of each waterfall tier. During the rainy season, the waterfall flows strongly, creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere. Other natural attractions nearby include Tham Kaew (Crystal Cave) and Tham Heia (Heia Cave) — both limestone caves featuring impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Visitors wishing to explore these caves should contact park officials in advance for guidance.
The forest park provides basic visitor facilities, including a camping area, toilets, and parking. However, no accommodation is available, and visitors are required to bring their own tents, camping gear, and food supplies, as there are no large shops or restaurants inside the park.
