“A valley that resembles a scene from depth of hell.”

Jigokudani, also known as "Hell Valley," is a breathtaking valley located near Noboribetsu Onsen.  It derives this nickname from the landscape that resembles a scene from the depths of hell, renowned for its striking volcanic features including steam vents and sulfurous streams, providing the town with its hot spring waters.  Explore the scenic walking trails through the forested hills to discover Oyunuma, a sulfurous pond with a surface temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, and experience the surreal sight of Oyunumagawa, a hot river flowing through the forest, offering opportunities for a natural foot bath (ashiyu). Please note that some walking trails may be inaccessible during winter.
