“Laem Son Beach is ideal for families seeking a tranquil getaway by the sea. It’s also located near Wat Laem Son, home to a large white Buddha statue facing the ocean.”
Laem Son Beach is located in the Pak Nam Lang Suan area of Chumphon Province. Known for its calm and shaded environment, the beach stretches for about three kilometers along a scenic pine-lined coastline, which inspired its name “Laem Son,” meaning “Cape of Pine Trees.” The surrounding area has been developed as a public park and community health garden, making it a popular leisure spot for locals, especially in the evening when people come to relax, exercise, or simply enjoy the sea breeze.
The beach still retains its charm as a traditional fishing community. Visitors can often see local fishermen repairing nets, bringing in their daily catch, or selling fresh seafood along the shore. It’s an excellent place to enjoy fresh seafood at affordable prices or to stay overnight at one of the nearby homestays.
Just a short walk from the beach is Wat Laem Son, a well-known temple featuring Phra Phuttha Phonchai Mongkhon Muni, a large white Buddha image in the subduing Mara posture that enshrines sacred relics inside. The temple also preserves the mummified body of Luang Pu Nak, a revered monk respected by local residents. This temple not only serves as a spiritual center but also enhances the cultural experience of visiting Laem Son Beach.
As the sun sets, the golden light reflecting on the calm sea and the pine trees creates a breathtaking view, making Laem Son Beach one of the most picturesque sunset spots in Chumphon.
