“Significant sacred pillar of the province Traditional Thai architecture blended with local design A cultural landmark linked to the history of the city”

The City Pillar Shrine of Prachuap Khiri Khan is regarded as one of the most important sacred places in the province. It was established to symbolize stability, prosperity, and spiritual unity for the local community, following the traditional Thai belief surrounding city pillars.

Architecture: The shrine features beautiful and magnificent Jaturamuk (four-gabled) Thai-style applied architecture, emphasizing serenity and auspiciousness. The main pillar is traditionally crafted from Chaiyapruek wood (Golden Shower Tree wood), which is considered highly auspicious.

Spiritual Significance: Inside, the City Pillar (Lak Mueang) is enshrined, believed to be the dwelling place of a sacred spirit (Phra Suea Mueang) that safeguards and brings peace to the city.

Worship and Offerings: People frequently visit to pray for good fortune, career success, safety, and personal well-being. Traditional worship often involves offering flowers, incense, candles, tricolored cloth, and auspicious fruits.

Environment: The surrounding grounds are exceptionally well-maintained, clean, and shady, featuring beautiful landscaping that allows visitors to pay their respects in a peaceful and blessed environment.

Location and Activities: Located in the heart of Prachuap Khiri Khan city, the shrine is easily accessible and close to government offices and local neighborhoods, making it a convenient stop for both residents and tourists. The shrine becomes especially lively during major cultural and religious festivals, such as the New Year and Songkran.
