Wat Wang Wiwekaram, also known as "Wat Luang Pho Uttama" by locals and tourists, is located in Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province. This temple holds significant historical, religious, and cultural importance for the Thai-Myanmar border community. It was founded in 1953 by Phra Uttama Thera in collaboration with Thai, Mon, and Karen people from the area, and has played a vital role as a spiritual center for the diverse ethnic groups in Sangkhlaburi.

The current temple is situated on a new site after the construction of the Vajiralongkorn Dam, which submerged parts of the original temple. It is now known as the "Underwater Temple" or the old Wat Wang Wiwekaram. The original structure remains a historical landmark reflecting the changes in the area and the community's way of life. Inside the temple is the main chapel housing the remains of Luang Pho Uttama in a glass coffin, a sacred object highly revered by the people and serving as a central point of faith for the Mon people in Thailand.

In addition to the main temple, the temple also houses a replica of the Bodh Gaya stupa, located about 1 kilometer from the main temple. This stupa is inspired by the "Replica of Bodh Gaya Stupa" in India and is notable for its large square base and golden structure that beautifully reflects the sunlight. It enshrines relics of the Buddha and features a staircase for pilgrims to ascend and pay homage. It is considered one of the important symbols of Sangkhlaburi district and offers a clear view of the surrounding mountains and river landscape.

Wat Wang Wiwekaram also plays a significant role as a cultural center for the Mon people, continuously hosting religious activities and local traditions such as Buddhist merit-making ceremonies, Mon dance performances, and community activities reflecting the diverse identities of the people in the area. Therefore, this temple is not just a tourist attraction but also a place that reflects faith, unity, and the harmonious coexistence of various cultures.

• From Kanchanaburi city center, take Highway 323 toward Sangkhlaburi. Upon reaching the district, cross the Songalia Bridge toward the Mon Village; there are clear signs leading to the temple throughout the route.

• Visit in the early morning or late afternoon for cooler weather and better light

• Dress modestly as it is a sacred religious site

• Allocate at least 1–2 hours for the Bodh Gaya Pagoda Replica

• Bring drinking water as the area is open and can be hot
