Khao Kho Memorial is one of the most important historical sites in Khao Kho District, Phetchabun Province. It was built to commemorate the civilians, police, and soldiers who died while performing their duties in the Khao Kho area during the conflict with the Communist Party of Thailand, which lasted from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Historically, Khao Kho was a strategically important battleground for Thailand due to its complex mountain ranges covered in dense forests, making it an effective military base. This resulted in numerous casualties and left lasting historical scars on the Khao Kho area.

The memorial is located on a high mountain peak along Road 2325 in Thung Samo Subdistrict, at an altitude of approximately 1,100–1,174 meters above sea level. This offers expansive views of the surrounding Khao Kho mountains. The memorial itself is constructed of white marble in a large triangular shape, symbolically representing the cooperation of civilians, police, and military personnel in maintaining security in the area. The architectural style of the memorial is simple yet elegant. Standing majestically amidst the mountain range and sky, it has become a significant landmark of Khao Kho, visible from afar.

Inside the memorial, the names of those who sacrificed their lives in the battle are inscribed, honoring and remembering them. The surrounding atmosphere is serene and solemn. Many tourists enjoy exploring the grounds to learn about history while admiring the natural beauty of Khao Kho. In the early morning, the area is often covered in mist, especially during the rainy and winter seasons, making this memorial both a historical learning site and a renowned viewpoint.

Near the memorial is "Than Itthi," or the open-air weapons museum, another point that clearly reflects the history of the battles in the Khao Kho area. Inside, real military equipment used in past missions is displayed, such as helicopters, military aircraft, armored personnel carriers, artillery, and bunkers, along with informational panels explaining important historical events. Tourists can closely examine the equipment, gaining a deeper understanding of the fighting conditions and the difficulties of operating in this high mountainous region.

Beyond its historical value, the Khao Kho Martyrs' Memorial plays a vital role as an educational tourist attraction in Phetchabun Province. • From Phetchabun city center, take Highway 12 (Phitsanulok-Lomsak) toward Khao Kho. Turn left at the Campson Intersection onto Highway 2196. Continue straight until reaching the intersection leading up the mountain, then turn left onto Route 2325. Clear directional signs point the way to the memorial. The final ascent is quite steep with sharp curves; drivers should use low gears and proceed with caution.
