The World War II Museum and Art Gallery in Kanchanaburi is a private museum located along the Kwai Yai River, near the River Kwai Bridge, a major historical landmark of the province. The entire area is designed as a learning center focused on World War II history and the construction of the Death Railway by Allied prisoners of war under Japanese control.Inside the museum, the space is divided into several buildings and exhibition zones, each presenting different dimensions of history, society, and the daily lives of prisoners of war. A key highlight is the combination of authentic artifacts and realistic diorama-style displays, creating an immersive historical atmosphere.
How to Get There
- By car: From downtown Kanchanaburi, take Saeng Chuto Road (Highway 323) toward the River Kwai Bridge, then turn onto Maenam Kwai Road. The museum is located about 100 meters before the bridge.
- By train: Get off at River Kwai Bridge Station and walk approximately 5–10 minutes.
