“A stunning 7-tier limestone waterfall cascading like natural stairs, with white streams contrasting emerald pools amid lush forest.”

Mae Koeng Luang Waterfall are beautiful limestone waterfalls cascading in stair-like layers from Doi Mae Koeng. The name “Mae Koeng” comes from the local northern dialect, meaning “staircase,” perfectly describing the natural formation of the falls.

Mae Koeng Luang Waterfall is located about 1 kilometer from the national park headquarters and is easily accessible. The most popular sections are tiers 1–3, where visitors can relax, swim, and take photographs. The white water flowing over limestone contrasts beautifully with green moss and surrounding dry evergreen forest.

Mae Koeng Noi Waterfall is located deeper inside the forest and requires a 2-kilometer hike from the park headquarters. It is ideal for visitors who enjoy nature trekking and peaceful surroundings.

Both waterfalls eventually flow into the Yom River at Ban Sop Koeng in Wang Chin District. Water flows year-round, but the most beautiful period is from November to January, when the water turns clear emerald green.

Wiang Kosai National Park is also home to several other scenic waterfalls, including Mae Sin Waterfall, Mae Jok Waterfall, Mae Pak Waterfall, Mae Rang Waterfall, and Khun Huai Waterfall, reflecting the rich natural abundance of the area.

How to Get There
  • By private car: From Phrae town, take Highway 1023 (Phrae–Long), then Highway 11 (Den Chai–Lampang) toward Wang Chin District. Continue onto Highway 1125 leading to the national park. Total distance is approximately 70–80 kilometers.
