“Thailand’s largest and most abundant natural teak forest. Explore Kaeng Suea Ten along the Yom River, camp at Lom Dong, and enjoy spectacular sea-of-mist views from Pha Ing Mok.”

Mae Yom National Park covers approximately 284,218 rai (about 455 square kilometers) across Song District in Phrae Province and Ngao District in Lampang Province. It was officially designated as a national park on 1 March 1986.

The landscape features mountain ranges running parallel along both sides of the Yom River, which flows through the heart of the park for more than 20 kilometers. The area is dominated by fertile mixed deciduous forest and is home to the largest and most densely populated natural golden teak forest in Thailand, making it ecologically significant for conservation.

Kaeng Suea Ten, located in front of the park headquarters, is a natural stretch of rapids along the Yom River extending about 2 kilometers. It is characterized by rocky formations and sandy banks. The name derives from rocks resembling tiger paw prints, and local legend says tigers once crossed the river here. Today, it is a popular riverside relaxation and camping area.

Dong Sak Ngam, about 6 kilometers from the headquarters (accessible by foot), features dense stands of mature golden teak trees. During October–November, yellow teak blossoms bloom across the forest, creating a striking natural spectacle.

Lom Dong, located approximately 10 kilometers from the headquarters, is a large natural basin about 100 meters in diameter with year-round water. It serves as a wildlife water source and a favorite campsite, offering scenic sunrise and sunset views over the teak forest.

Nearby, Pha Ing Mok is a panoramic viewpoint overlooking vast stretches of teak forest. During the cool season, especially in winter, visitors can witness a magnificent sea of mist, considered one of the most beautiful in Phrae Province.

Popular activities include camping, nature trekking, landscape photography, sea-of-mist viewing, and seasonal water activities such as swimming or rafting when conditions are suitable.
