“The most accessible roadside limestone waterfall with clear water year-round. Located in Khao Laem National Park, it's a perfect scenic rest stop for travelers to Sangkhlaburi.”

Kroeng Krawia Waterfall is a medium-sized natural waterfall located within Khao Laem National Park, on the Thong Pha Phum – Sangkhlaburi route, considered one of the most beautiful natural tourist routes in Kanchanaburi province. A key feature of this waterfall is its location right next to Highway 323, making it easily accessible for tourists without having to hike long distances like many waterfalls in western Thailand. It has become a popular rest stop for those traveling to Sangkhlaburi, Ban E-Tong, and the Thai-Myanmar border area. The surrounding atmosphere is characterized by lush rainforest and complex mountain ranges, resulting in cool and comfortable weather almost year-round. Especially during the rainy and winter seasons, high humidity and light morning mist add to the area's charm.

The waterfall is formed by the Kroeng Krawia stream flowing through natural limestone formations. Its distinctive feature is that the water doesn't cascade down a steep cliff like large waterfalls, but rather flows in cascades over low rock layers, creating a wide, beautiful, and gentle curtain of water. The water branches out like a spiderweb along the natural rock crevices, a unique characteristic that many tourists recognize. The rock base is mostly light-colored limestone, resulting in clear and clean water, particularly during the late rainy season to early winter. The water flows most beautifully at its peak, displaying a slightly greenish-blue hue when reflecting sunlight. In some spots, shallow pools form, perfect for safe swimming, making it ideal for families and those seeking relaxation during their travels.

Although Kering Kra Wia Waterfall isn't very tall, its charm lies in its lush greenery and easy accessibility. The surrounding area is maintained by Khao Laem National Park officials and offers walking paths, rest pavilions, parking, a convenience store, and small restaurants for tourists. Those traveling from Kanchanaburi to Sangkhlaburi often stop for coffee, meals, or to relax by the stream before continuing their journey, as this section of the route is winding through mountains. The waterfall serves as a natural rest stop, offering a refreshing and tranquil atmosphere, unlike typical roadside rest areas.

During the rainy season, from approximately June to October, the water volume increases significantly, making the waterfall at its most beautiful and lush. The sound of flowing water resonates throughout the area, and the large trees and forest ferns covering the rocks create an atmosphere similar to a tropical rainforest. However, in some years during the dry season... Water levels may drop so drastically that the national park may have to temporarily close the area for natural restoration and ecosystem preservation. In 2024, a temporary closure was announced due to drought and insufficient water for tourism activities. Travelers should therefore check with the park authorities before visiting during the dry season.

Another point that sets Kering Kra Wia Waterfall apart from many other famous waterfalls in Kanchanaburi is its simplicity and high level of natural beauty. Most tourists don't spend much time here, perhaps just listening to the sound of the water, taking photos, or strolling along the stream. However, its easy accessibility and tranquil atmosphere have impressed many, making it a popular stop on the Kanchanaburi–Sangkhlaburi route. In addition, nearby are other attractions within Khao Laem National Park, such as Pom Pi viewpoint, Dai Chong Thong Waterfall, and natural camping areas, ideal for a two-day, one-night nature trip or for convenient onward travel to the Mon Bridge and Sangkhlaburi town.
