Kalim Beach is a small beach located north of Patong Beach. It's characterized by a continuous coastline separated by small rocky headlands, giving it a unique character distinct from other popular tourist beaches in Phuket. The beach features coarse sand mixed with rocks and shallow coral reefs, resulting in a natural and undeveloped environment. A defining feature of Kalim Beach is its rocky and coral-covered seabed, particularly visible at low tide, especially in the northern part of the beach where you can explore the pools among the rocks and observe small marine life such as starfish, crabs, shellfish, and other creatures up close. However, due to this seabed characteristic, the beach is not suitable for general swimming, especially during low tide or monsoon season, as the sharp rocks and shallow reefs pose a risk. Tourists wishing to swim should exercise extreme caution.

Although not a beach for swimming, Kalim Beach is renowned for its surfing, particularly during the monsoon season from May to October. When the southwest monsoon winds blow into the Andaman coast, they create waves ideal for surfing. The waves here are of the broken reef type, formed by underwater coral reefs, resulting in long, continuous waves. They are more suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers than beginners. At times, the beach is also used as a venue for competitions or training for both Thai and international surfers.

Another key characteristic of Kalim Beach is its evening atmosphere. The road along the beach transforms into a vibrant street food hub, with numerous food carts and temporary stalls, becoming a gathering place for locals and tourists seeking to sample affordable local cuisine. From Pad Thai and Som Tum to grilled seafood, roti, and various Thai desserts, enjoying a meal by the sea while watching the sunset makes it a popular spot for evening dining, even without the large-scale amenities of Phuket's main beaches.

In terms of scenery, Kalim Beach offers a stunning viewpoint, especially during sunset when the golden light reflects off the water and rocks, creating a unique and beautiful spectacle different from typical white sand beaches.
