Chao Mae Song Nang Phi Nong Shrine Mukdahan Province, is a sacred shrine located along the Mekong River on Saran Chai Khong Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Mukdahan District. It is situated near the Indochina Market and the Mukdahan Immigration Checkpoint, an important area for trade, transportation, and riverside tourism.This shrine has long been revered by the people of Mukdahan. Originally, it was a small wooden shrine built by local villagers as a place to worship the sacred spirits of the Mekong River. During the era when the Mekong served as a major route for transportation and trade, the shrine functioned as a spiritual anchor, offering protection and safety for those traveling along the river.As the city of Mukdahan expanded and more people visited the area, the shrine was renovated and rebuilt into a more durable concrete structure to accommodate increasing numbers of worshippers and visitors. However, its original sacred location has been preserved in accordance with local beliefs.
How to Get There
- By Car: From Mukdahan city center, take Saran Chai Khong Road toward the Indochina Market. The shrine is located near the Mukdahan Immigration Checkpoint, with roadside parking available nearby.
- By Local Transport: Visitors can take a local three-wheeled taxi known as a “Skylab” from downtown Mukdahan. The distance is approximately 800 meters from the city center.

- It is recommended to visit in the morning or late afternoon when the weather is cooler and more comfortable for walking along the Mekong riverside.
