Wat Phra Phuttha Singh Song is one of the oldest and most important temples in Mukdahan Province. Located along Samran Chai Khong Road near the Mekong River and the city’s original riverside community, the temple has long been closely connected to the history and establishment of Mukdahan. It is regarded as a major spiritual center for both Thai and Lao people living along the Mekong River.The temple’s most sacred treasure is “Phra Phuttha Singh Song,” a bronze Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, blending Lan Xang and Chiang Saen artistic styles. The image measures approximately 1 meter across the lap and 1.2 meters in height_. According to local legend, Chao Chan Kinaree, the first ruler of Mukdahan, brought the Buddha image from Vientiane during the founding of the city, making it a symbolic guardian and spiritual center of the community.
