“Wat Kittiwong has long been a spiritual center for the people of Mae Sariang, enshrining sacred relics and rare ancient scriptures that document historical accounts.”

Wat Kittiwong (Wat Kittiwong) is located within the Mae Sariang subdistrict of Mae Hong Son province. It is considered a temple of great historical significance and a spiritual hub for the Buddhist community in the Mae Sariang district.

The temple has a long history, founded in 1835 and receiving its official royal land grant in 1916. It is home to many sacred and precious artifacts.

Over time, it has been renovated and developed to preserve its cultural and spiritual value. Notably, it houses sacred relics (Phra Borom Saririkkatat) brought from Wat Sri Suphan in Chiang Mai by Phra Khru Kittiwong. Another extremely important artifact is an ancient scripture discovered in a cave on the banks of the Salween River in 1968. This scripture records the history of relations between the Lanna Kingdom and Burma, making it a rare and valuable piece of historical evidence.

While the temple hosts important events at certain times, it is primarily a place for meditation and historical tourism rather than a venue for large festivals.

This location is also ideal for those interested in studying history and art, particularly the architecture that clearly reflects the unique Lanna and Tai Yai styles, such as the exquisite stucco patterns and beautifully carved doors and windows.

If you wish to experience a profound sense of history and admire rare artifacts, Wat Kittiwong is a place you should visit.
