“A small beach of not very out standing natural beauty, the area to take the boat to Koh Song or Victoria Point. The hill top of Ranong is the best place to watch dramatically the sundown.”
Chan Damri Beach is located in Pak Nam Subdistrict, near the mouth of the Kraburi River, which forms a natural boundary between Thailand and Myanmar. This unique location gives the beach a distinct geographical character compared to other Andaman coastal destinations in ระนอง.
The beach itself is relatively small, featuring a mix of sand and rocky terrain, with scattered boulders along the shoreline. The seawater tends to be slightly murky due to its proximity to the estuary, where sediment from the river flows into the sea.
For this reason, Chan Damri Beach is not ideal for swimming or typical beach activities. Instead, it stands out as a scenic viewpoint, highly valued for its landscape and panoramic vistas.
One of its most distinctive features is its role as a “two-country viewpoint,” offering clear views of Myanmar’s coastline, particularly around:
- Kawthaung
- Victoria Point
From here, visitors can see mountain ranges, coastal settlements, and port areas on the Myanmar side, creating a unique visual contrast rarely found in other Thai seaside destinations.
About 200 meters before reaching the beach, there is a small hill that serves as a bird’s-eye viewpoint. From this spot, you can observe:
- The estuary of the Kraburi River
- Long-tail boats and local fishing vessels
- The horizon where the sea meets the mountains
This viewpoint is considered one of the best photography spots in Ranong.
Atmosphere throughout the day:
- Morning:
Quiet and peaceful, with local fishermen heading out to sea—ideal for experiencing traditional coastal life
- Afternoon:
Strong sunlight and fewer visitors, suitable for walking and capturing wide-angle scenery
- Evening (highlight):
The most beautiful time to visit, especially between 5:00–6:30 PM. The sunset casts golden light over the water, rocks, and nearby islets, creating layered reflections and dramatic scenery
A key highlight is the ability to watch the sun set directly over the sea, with the silhouette of Myanmar’s mountains in the background—something rarely seen in many parts of Thailand.
The Pak Nam area remains a traditional fishing community, so Chan Damri Beach retains an authentic, local atmosphere without heavy tourism.
Visitors can experience:
- Traditional fishing boats
- Coastal village lifestyles
- Cross-border water transport and trade activities
How to Get There
- By car: From Rarong town, take Highway 4004 toward Pak Nam for about 9 km
- By local transport: Take a Ranong–Pak Nam shared taxi (songthaew) and get off at the entrance
