“ Shaded casuarina pine forest along the beach, beautiful sunset viewpoint, views of Koh Phayam, Koh Kang Khao, and Koh Thalu, with seaside camping area inside the national park. ”
Bang Ben Beach (Laem Son National Park), Ranong, is a pristine natural beach on Thailand’s Andaman coast, known for its long stretch of fine sand with a gentle slope that allows safe and comfortable walking along the shoreline. The beach features calm seawater for much of the year, especially during the dry season from November to April, which is the best time to visit. During this period, the sea becomes clearer, offering beautiful views of the Andaman coastline.
A key highlight of Bang Ben Beach is its continuous casuarina pine forest lining the shore. These trees provide natural shade throughout the day, create a relaxing atmosphere, and help protect the coastline from erosion, preserving its natural beauty. From the beach, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of nearby islands such as Koh Phayam, Koh Kang Khao, and Koh Thalu. In the evening, when the sky is clear, the sunset reflecting over the sea and island silhouettes creates a particularly scenic view.
Bang Ben Beach also serves as a main departure point for boat trips to the Mu Ko Kam islands, a popular snorkeling destination in Ranong. Long-tail boats can be hired directly from the beach for day trips.Inside Laem Son National Park, visitors will find full facilities including a visitor center, accommodation, seaside camping grounds, restaurants, and restrooms. The camping area is located under the pine trees, allowing visitors to enjoy a peaceful overnight stay surrounded by nature and the sound of waves.
The best time to visit is during sunset, between 17:30 and 18:30, when golden light covers the entire beach. Weekdays are generally quieter than weekends, offering a more peaceful experience. As the area is protected under national park regulations, visitors are advised to avoid using foam and single-use plastics, and to help keep the area clean to preserve its natural environment for the future.
