“Shallow coral reef area, snorkeling, Laem Kut viewpoint with sunrise and sunset views, peaceful and private atmosphere, fishing and squid fishing spot”
Ao Pakarang (Ao Pakarang) is a small bay that still preserves its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. The area consists mainly of a mix of sandy beach, rocky shoreline, and shallow coral reefs located only a few hundred meters from the shore. It is home to only one resort, “Nimmanoradee Resort,” which helps maintain the bay’s private and exclusive atmosphere.
The terrain is diverse, combining beach, rocky formations, and shallow reef areas, allowing swimming in some spots while other areas are quite rocky. Visitors are advised to check tide conditions before entering the water, especially during low tide when the coral formations become clearly visible.
The overall atmosphere is quiet and highly natural, far from the busy main beaches of Koh Samet. This makes it ideal for slow-paced relaxation and enjoying a truly private island experience.
Nearby, Laem Kut viewpoint offers a unique vantage point where both the eastern horizon and western sunset views can be seen within a short distance. This makes it one of the rare locations on Koh Samet where both sunrise and sunset can be enjoyed on the same day.
Underwater, the area features shallow coral reefs and small schools of fish, making it suitable for easy snorkeling without needing a boat. However, visitors should be cautious of rocky areas and occasional sea urchins near the shore.
Evenings are especially peaceful, with calm winds and a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for fishing and squid fishing, particularly when sea conditions are stable. Visitors can also relax along the wooden walkway or beach area while enjoying the scenery.
The best time to visit is November to April, when the sea is calm and water clarity is at its best. Other seasons are still accessible but may experience stronger winds and waves.
Facilities are limited due to its natural setting and the presence of only one resort. Visitors should prepare essentials in advance and be aware that mobile signal may be weak in some areas.
Ao Pakarang is best suited for nature lovers, couples, and travelers seeking privacy and tranquility, rather than those looking for lively or crowded beach activities.
How to Get There
