“A towering sandstone cliff waterfall that expands into a wide white curtain during the rainy season, surrounded by lush and pristine rainforest.”

Pha Nam Pha Waterfall is one of the most pristine natural destinations, preserving its raw beauty and ecological richness. It is located within the continuous forest range of Phu Kradueng National Park, which connects to the forested area of Nam Nao District. This makes the area a transitional forest zone with exceptionally high biodiversity.

The waterfall originates from a mountain stream flowing over sandstone formations that have been eroded over a long period, creating a massive vertical cliff. With a height_ of several tens of meters, the water falls freely in some sections, while in others it cascades down in tiers depending on the season. As a result, the appearance of the waterfall changes according to the volume of water.

During the rainy season, the water spreads out into a wide curtain-like flow, resembling a large white veil covering the entire cliff face. Fine mist fills the surrounding area, creating a highly humid environment that supports the growth of mosses, lichens, and many species of ferns.

At the base of the waterfall is a natural plunge pool formed by the continuous force of falling water over time. The rocks in this area are quite slippery due to algae, so extra caution is required.

The surrounding area is classified as a tropical evergreen forest mixed with deciduous forest, commonly found in the mountainous regions of northeastern Thailand. The environment remains humid throughout the year, with temperatures generally cooler than in lowland areas.

Vegetation found in the area includes:

  • Ancient ferns and various species of moss

  • Wild orchids growing on large trees

  • Large hardwood trees such as Yang Na and Takien

Wildlife that may be encountered (depending on the season and level of disturbance) includes:

  • Various rare forest birds

  • Small reptiles

  • Endemic insects found in humid forest ecosystems

Due to its difficult access, the ecosystem remains largely undisturbed, making it one of the high-quality natural areas in Loei Province.
