“Tham So Nuea Waterfall captivates visitors with its delicate curtain of water cascading into a curved sandstone cave. During the summer, the area above the waterfall is covered with blooming red roses, adding a vibrant splash of color against the lush pine forest backdrop.”

Tham So Nuea Waterfall is one of the most accessible and picturesque waterfalls on the summit of Phu Kradueng National Park. The waterfall stands about 10 meters high, with crystal-clear water gently cascading down the sandstone cliff, creating a fine mist that keeps the surrounding area cool and refreshing throughout the year.

One of the unique features of this waterfall is the natural cave, formed by the gradual collapse and erosion of sandstone layers, creating a smooth arch that curves inward beneath the cliff. Visitors can walk beneath the rock overhang and capture stunning photos from inside the cave, making it one of the most photographed spots in Phu Kradueng.

During the summer months (April–May), the upper part of the waterfall area comes alive with blooming red Phu Kradueng roses, a native flower species that brightens the green pine forest with its vivid red hue. The contrast of colors creates a breathtaking scene, perfect for photography and quiet nature walks.

Surrounding the waterfall, the landscape is filled with lush vegetation such as ferns, mosses, and small shrubs growing on damp rocks. The continuous sound of water cascading over stone adds to the peaceful and rejuvenating atmosphere, making it a wonderful resting spot for trekkers exploring the plateau trails. Nearby, you can also find other waterfalls like Tham So Klang and Tham So Tai, each with its own charm and natural beauty.

Tham So Nuea Waterfall lies along a nature trail on the plateau and is not located in a restricted “closed forest” area, which means it is open to visitors throughout the park’s tourism season. However, visitors are reminded to keep the area clean and avoid stepping off designated trails to protect the delicate ecosystem.
