“Pha Yiap Mek is one of the most spectacular viewpoints on Phu Kradueng, giving visitors the sensation of standing above the clouds amid a breathtaking sea of mist in the morning, and it is a prime spot to enjoy the stunning sunset along the cliff.”
Pha Yiap Mek is a high cliff characterized by a rugged sandstone terrace resembling a cloud, located on the main trail connecting Pha Nan Noi with Pha Lom Sak (about 1.5 km from Pha Nan Noi).
The name “Pha Yiap Mek” comes from the feeling visitors experience when looking down at the dense clouds and mist drifting across the valley, creating the sensation of actually standing on a cloud. From here, the panoramic view stretches all the way to Chaiyaphum and Phetchabun provinces.
The surrounding area is covered by dense pine forest, providing fresh, cool air and a beautiful natural atmosphere. Large rock formations and open rocky terraces are perfect for photography or resting during hikes. Visitors can enjoy the morning mist or wait to watch the sunset, one of the main highlights of Phu Kradueng.
Facilities include small shops selling food and drinks, restrooms, and resting points to accommodate tourists. Along the trail between Pha Nan Noi and Pha Lom Sak, there are several minor viewpoints where visitors can stop and take photos before reaching Pha Yiap Mek.
The site is especially popular during the winter season (November–January) when the air is crisp and the mist creates a stunningly magical view, often with sunlight streaming through the clouds.
For adventure enthusiasts, the trail to Pha Yiap Mek is part of a long trekking route connecting several points, such as Pha Lom Sak, Pha Nan Noi, and other rock terraces, allowing multi-day trekking trips to experience the full scenic beauty of Phu Kradueng.
Nature lovers can observe small wildlife, including birds and insects, and explore the diverse pine forest ecosystem and native flora around the cliff.
Overall, Pha Yiap Mek is both a breathtaking natural viewpoint and a restful adventure destination, suitable for visitors of all ages, whether for sunrise, sunset, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the pine forest.
