“ An iconic natural stone arch of Satun, believed to bring everlasting love when you walk through it, surrounded by crystal-clear emerald waters, pristine white sand, and a peaceful natural atmosphere. ”

Koh Khai is a small limestone island located between Tarutao Island and Adang Island within Tarutao National Park in Satun Province. It is considered one of the most iconic landmarks of the Thai Andaman Sea and serves as a symbol of tourism in Satun.

The island’s most distinctive feature is its natural stone arch, formed over thousands of years through the erosion of waves and seawater. This process, particularly limestone erosion, has created a large archway resembling a natural gateway that beautifully connects the beach to the open sea.

Beyond its geological significance, the stone arch also holds cultural meaning and local beliefs. It is said that couples who walk through the arch together will enjoy everlasting love, making it a popular destination for couples and visitors seeking symbolic and memorable photographs.

Geographically, Koh Khai is a small island with no freshwater sources and no permanent structures. As it is protected under national park regulations, the island remains highly pristine. Its white sandy beach is composed of finely broken coral and shells accumulated over time.

The surrounding sea is exceptionally clear due to the absence of sediment from the mainland and the presence of strong water circulation. This creates stunning gradients of color ranging from light blue to deep emerald green. On sunny days, the seabed is clearly visible beneath the surface.

Although it is not a primary diving site, the shallow waters around the island still host small marine life such as tropical fish and some coral, making it suitable for swimming and photography rather than serious diving.

Due to conservation policies and limited space, overnight stays are not permitted on Koh Khai. Most visitors spend about 30–45 minutes on the island, enjoying the beach, taking photos, and admiring the stone arch before continuing their journey to Koh Lipe or nearby islands.

Another unique charm of Koh Khai is its tranquility. With no shops, electricity, or facilities, visitors can experience nature in its purest and most untouched form.

However, due to the fragility of the ecosystem, visitors are strongly encouraged to follow park regulations—such as not littering, avoiding climbing on the stone arch, and refraining from stepping on coral—to help preserve the island’s natural beauty for future generations.
