“Amazing Hin Son rock formations, crystal-clear waters, powdery white sand, and vibrant soft coral reefs. A pristine snorkeling paradise in Tarutao National Park for photographers.”

Koh Dong, or the Dong Archipelago, represents the ultimate frontier of the Tarutao National Marine Park in Satun Province. Situated at the outermost edge of the Adang-Rawi island group, this remote destination is renowned for its extraordinary geological features and untouched natural splendor. Its most iconic landmark is "Koh Hin Son," a small satellite island characterized by two massive, square-shaped granite boulders stacked perfectly atop one another. This natural phenomenon, created through thousands of years of wind and wave erosion, stands as a gravity-defying masterpiece of nature and serves as the definitive photo spot for visitors.

The physical landscape of Koh Dong offers a serene and secluded atmosphere, far removed from the bustling crowds of Koh Lipe. Being part of the "Outer Zone" of the park, it retains a raw, wild charm with powdery white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The visibility here is exceptional, often allowing observers to see the vibrant seabed from the deck of a boat. The archipelago is surrounded by smaller islets, such as Koh Prawan (Whale Island) and the outer Koh Hin Ngam, which collectively form a vital corridor for marine biodiversity, particularly famous for its dense populations of colorful soft corals and anemone forests teeming with clownfish.

Beneath the surface, Koh Dong provides some of the most pristine snorkeling and diving sites in the Andaman Sea. The nutrient-rich currents circulating through these outer islands support massive hard coral formations and giant sea fans. Visitors are encouraged to practice responsible tourism under strict National Park regulations to protect the fragile ecosystem. As a destination that remains largely undeveloped, Koh Dong offers a rare opportunity to witness the Andaman’s maritime environment in its most authentic and majestic state.
