“Ramanya Chedi, Buddha footprint replica, and Luang Pho Phuttha Chai Mongkhon. Peaceful atmosphere, ideal for worship, and linked to Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival.”

Wat Song Tham Worawihan is an important temple in Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan Province, with a long history dating back to the reign of King Rama II during the establishment of Nakhon Khuean Khan, the former name of present-day Phra Pradaeng. The temple was built through the cooperation of Mon communities who migrated and settled in the area, making it a cultural and religious center of the Mon people in the Chao Phraya River basin. Its architecture clearly reflects a blend of traditional Mon style and early Rattanakosin influences. The ordination hall features a simple design without traditional Thai decorative elements such as chofah or bai raka, emphasizing a more functional and sturdy structure.

Inside the ordination hall, mural paintings illustrate the life of the Buddha in detail, reflecting deep religious devotion and cultural storytelling through Buddhist art.The principal Buddha image, Luang Pho Phuttha Chai Mongkhon, is highly respected by local devotees and is believed to bring prosperity and peace of mind to worshippers. The temple also features the distinctive Ramanya Chedi, a bell-shaped Mon-style stupa that serves as a key landmark and symbol of the temple and surrounding community.Wat Song Tham Worawihan also plays an important role in the Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival, a unique Mon cultural tradition that includes long-preserved rituals and local celebrations.

With its historical, artistic, and cultural value, the temple serves as both a sacred site and an important cultural learning center of Samut Prakan Province.
