“Feel the sacredness of Phra Achan Thammachot Vihara and worship ancient Buddha footprints amidst a replicated ancient fort atmosphere reflecting the bravery of the Bang Rachan Heroes.”

Pho Kao Ton Temple, also known as Wat Khai Bang Rachan, is a site of great historical significance in Thailand. Located opposite the Bang Rachan Heroes Monument in Sing Buri Province, the temple once served as a military encampment and spiritual center for brave villagers who united to resist the Burmese army prior to the second fall of Ayutthaya. The site powerfully reflects the patriotism, sacrifice, and unity of the Thai ancestors.

The most important highlight of the temple is the Viharn of Phra Ajarn Thammasothi, which enshrines a statue of the revered monk who acted as a spiritual leader and moral anchor for the villagers during wartime. He played a crucial role in inspiring courage and determination among the local people, encouraging them to stand firm against overwhelming forces.

Within the temple grounds lies a sacred pond, believed to have been used by Phra Ajarn Thammasothi to prepare holy water for the warriors. Today, visitors continue to collect water from this pond as a symbol of good fortune and to fulfill vows according to long-standing traditional beliefs.

The surrounding atmosphere of the temple has been carefully designed to reflect its historical background. Simulated fort walls and a moat evoke the image of an ancient military camp, while large shady trees—especially the nine Bodhi trees that give the temple its name—create a tranquil environment. The area is filled with a sense of bravery, sanctity, and calm, allowing visitors to feel the spirit of the past.

For tourists and families, Pho Kao Ton Temple Ton offers a vivid historical experience. The temple is located near the Bang Rachan Retro Thai Market, where locals dress in traditional Thai costumes and sell local food and handicrafts. Photographers will find many opportunities to capture rare scenes of traditional architecture and authentic community life.

A visit to Pho Kao Ton Temple is not only a journey through history, but also a moment to honor the heroic sacrifices of the Thai people. Visitors are invited to seek blessings for good fortune while absorbing the enduring spirit of faith, patriotism, and national pride that continues to resonate throughout this historic land.
