“A single-tier waterfall flowing over a wide rock terrace, just 300 meters from the park office, featuring shallow and safe natural pools, ideal for families and close to full visitor facilities”
Tad Duean Waterfall is one of the most accessible natural attractions within Si Satchanalai National Park, located only about 300 meters from the park headquarters. A short 5–10 minute walk makes it an ideal destination for all types of travelers, including families, elderly visitors, and those with limited time.
The waterfall originates from Mae Tha Phae Stream, cascading over a natural rock formation approximately 10 meters high. Its unique feature is the wide and gently sloping rock face, allowing water to flow softly in a thin curtain rather than plunging vertically, creating a calm and safe environment.
At the base lies a broad natural pool with relatively shallow water under normal conditions, making it suitable for swimming and cooling off. It is especially popular among families with children, though visitors should exercise caution during the rainy season when water levels may rise.
The surrounding area features a wide natural rock terrace shaped by long-term water erosion, offering space for relaxation, picnics, or simply enjoying the peaceful sound of flowing water. Some areas may be slippery due to moss, so proper footwear is recommended.
One of the major advantages of this location is its easy accessibility, with a well-maintained concrete walkway and clear signage leading from the visitor center. The short and convenient trail makes it suitable for visitors of all ages.
In terms of facilities, the nearby park headquarters provides restrooms, food services, shops, and a camping area, allowing visitors to plan anything from a short visit to an overnight stay. Many campers enjoy visiting the waterfall early in the morning for a refreshing natural experience.
For more adventurous travelers, a trekking route continues deeper into the forest to Tad Dao Waterfall, located about 4 kilometers away, offering a more dramatic and immersive natural setting (approximately 2–3 hours hike).
The best time to visit is during the late rainy season to early winter (October – January), when the water is clear, the flow is strong, and the surrounding forest is lush and vibrant.
