“Enjoy panoramic views of the Ubolratana Dam reservoir from "Chong Khao Khad Viewpoint," one of the most beautiful sunset spots in Khon Kaen province, and explore prehistoric rock paintings in the Phu Kao area.”

Phu Kao-Phu Phan Kham National Park is a significant conservation area with rich geological diversity, covering approximately 322 square kilometers in Ubolratana District, Khon Kaen Province, and Nonsang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province. The landscape comprises two distinct sandstone mountain ranges. "Phu Kao" is shaped like an inverted pan, with a central plain surrounded by a complex network of mountains. It is believed to be the site of an extinct volcanic crater formed millions of years ago or the collapse of the earth's crust. This has resulted in a wealth of natural wonders, including sandstone sculptures eroded by wind and rain into unique shapes, such as large mushroom-shaped rock formations, and archaeological sites containing valuable historical traces, such as geometric and animal paintings by prehistoric humans on cave walls and rock shelters. Furthermore, dinosaur footprints embedded in the rock layers have been discovered, greatly fascinating to tourists and geologists alike.

"Phu Phan Kham," a mountain range stretching along the Ubolratana Dam reservoir, is considered the heart of tourism on the Khon Kaen side. Because it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the calm waters stretching as far as the eye can see, especially at the "Chong Khao Khad Viewpoint," a gap between mountains where the wind constantly blows through, tourists can experience an incredibly peaceful and private atmosphere. The surrounding area is also rich in deciduous and mixed forests, home to various wild animals and birds. Therefore, the main activities, in addition to enjoying the scenery, include hiking along nature trails to learn about the ecosystem on the rocky plateau, experiencing the beauty of seasonal wildflowers, and camping by the water to watch the golden orange sunset disappear over the Ubolratana Dam reservoir—a powerful and impressive highlight of a visit to this park. Phu Kao-Phu Phan Kham National Park is therefore not just a place for relaxation but also a perfect natural and historical learning center for the whole family.
