“Spacious sea-view deck overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and Ang Thong islands, supports car and motorbike boarding, offers full onboard facilities, and serves as a key transportation hub across Koh Samui”
Koh Samui Ferry Piers are the primary transportation route connecting Donsak (mainland Surat Thani) to Koh Samui, with a travel time of approximately 1.5–2 hours. The ferries accommodate both passengers and vehicles, making them ideal for travelers seeking convenience and flexibility.
Historically, the ferry service near Thong Yang Beach, once known as the “Samui International Pier,” played a vital role in transporting passengers to the island before operations expanded to Nathon Pier, which is now the main maritime hub of Koh Samui
Today, there are two major operators: Seatran Ferry, located at Nathon Pier (the island’s administrative and commercial center), and Raja Ferry, located at Lipa Noi Pier, a quieter area ideal for a more relaxed arrival. Both services support cars, motorbikes, and cargo transport, making them especially popular among road trip travelers
The ferry journey itself is more than just transportation—it is a scenic travel experience across the Gulf of Thailand. Passengers can relax on the open-air deck, enjoy fresh sea breezes, and admire panoramic ocean views. As the ferry approaches Koh Samui, travelers are welcomed by lush green mountains and coconut palm-lined shores
In addition, these ferry piers serve as the logistics backbone of Koh Samui, transporting goods and supplies from the mainland. This vital role supports the island’s economy and tourism, making the ferry not just a means of travel, but the true beginning of your island getaway
