The Non Than 150 Million-Year-Old Fossil Shell and Dinosaur Museum, located in T. Non Than, Mueang Nong Bua Lamphu, Nong Bua Lamphu, is a major center for scientific and natural education in northeastern Thailand. The museum’s exhibits include 150-million-year-old fossil shells, which are significant evidence of geological changes and the evolution of life in prehistoric times. It also displays prehistoric dinosaur remains that once inhabited the Non Than area, attracting tourists and researchers from around the world.
The museum is divided into six main zones, each offering unique content and experiences for visitors:
- Zone 1: Welcome Zone – Displays the Non Than dinosaur family, introducing visitors to the dinosaurs that once lived in the area.
- Zone 2: Explore the Universe – Features moving models simulating the sun and planets in the solar system, including Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
- Zone 3: Origins of Life – Provides knowledge about the evolution of life on Earth, including plants, animals, and humans, from the past to the present.
- Zone 4: Predator Kingdom – Offers information about dinosaurs and prehistoric remains found in Thailand. Displays include dinosaur bones discovered at Ban Huai Duea, T. Non Than, Mueang Nong Bua Lamphu, and a life-size moving model of Siamotyrannus Isanensis, standing 4 meters tall and 7 meters long, capable of 8 movement actions.
- Zone 5: Wonders of Discovery – Features wall displays and 150-million-year-old fossil shell models. Visitors can view exhibits and listen to narrations in local dialects.
- Zone 6: Following the Explorers – Demonstrates the work of biologists and geologists, including tools, equipment, fossil study processes, and the history of geological exploration at the 150-million-year-old fossil shell site.
The museum also hosts educational activities and workshops to promote learning and interest in science and nature, particularly for students. These programs inspire curiosity and encourage engagement with scientific study.
