“Majestic golden Pala-style big Buddha on a natural stone plateau, alongside the ancient sacred Phra Lahai statue inside a serene forest park.”

Phra Mongkhon Ming Mueang Buddha Park are located on Khao Dan Phra Bat, along Chayangkul Road (Highway 212) in Mueang Amnat Charoen District. It is considered one of the most important centers of faith in Amnat Charoen Province and has been revered by locals as the city's guardian Buddha image for a long time. The surrounding area has been developed into a peaceful and serene Buddha park, surrounded by large trees and natural rock formations, providing visitors with a sense of tranquility both mentally and environmentally. It is ideal for worship, relaxation, and meditation.

The most prominent feature of this place is "Phra Mongkol Ming Mueang," a large, gleaming golden Buddha image in the Maravijaya posture, prominently situated on a rocky hill in the center of the Buddha park. The statue has a lap width_ of approximately 11 meters and a height_ of approximately 20 meters. It is constructed of reinforced concrete and adorned with beautiful golden mosaic tiles, making it visible from afar. The Buddhist art style shows influence from the Pala art of India, a Buddhist art style that flourished in East India during the 13th-17th centuries CE. Key features include a relatively long face, slender eyes, a slightly smiling mouth, and an air of serene depth characteristic of ancient Indian art. Inside the main Buddha statue are enshrined sacred relics of the Buddha, revered by Buddhists, making this place significant both artistically and spiritually.

The area in front of the statue is designed as a space for religious ceremonies and to accommodate visitors who come to pay homage throughout the year, especially on important Buddhist holidays such as Makha Bucha Day, Visakha Bucha Day, and Asalha Bucha Day, when Buddhists from many districts travel to participate in merit-making, circumambulation, and meditation. During the full moon of the third lunar month every year, a grand worship ceremony is held for Phra Mongkol Ming Muang, featuring religious ceremonies, folk art and cultural performances, and community stalls reflecting the lifestyle of the southern Isaan people. This makes the Buddhist park not only a religious center but also a place that unites the culture and relationships of the local people.

Another point of interest for visitors is the area behind the large Buddha statue, which houses "Phra Lahai," an ancient sandstone Buddha image believed by locals to be sacred and bring good fortune and success in life. The word "Lahai" is a local Isaan dialect term meaning something not beautiful or simple, resulting from the statue's age. This Buddha image was discovered in a nearby pond many decades ago. Before being enshrined within the Buddhist park, people often offered statues of chickens, elephants, and zebras as offerings after their wishes were granted, according to their beliefs. This created a different atmosphere from the area in front of the large Buddha statue, which emphasizes tranquility and religious formality.

Beyond its religious and cultural value, the Buddhist park and Phra Mongkol Ming Muang are also important viewpoints in Amnat Charoen city. Situated on slightly elevated land, they offer expansive views of the city and surrounding areas, especially during the cooler morning and evening hours. Many tourists enjoy strolling, taking photos, and relaxing amidst the peaceful natural surroundings. The blend of Buddhist art, the faith of the people, and the natural landscape makes this Buddhist park a truly significant religious tourist destination and a place of spiritual solace in lower northeastern Thailand.
