“This landmark features lifelike dinosaur models of various species discovered in Thailand. The highlight is a colossal statue that can move and roar as if it were alive, standing majestically amidst beautifully decorated gardens and artificial rock formations. It's an ideal spot for photos and an outdoor educational attraction for families.”
Si Wiang Dinosaur Park stands as a majestic portal into the prehistoric era, located within the Wiang Kao District—one of Thailand’s most significant geological regions. The park was established to celebrate and signify the entrance to the renowned Phu Wiang dinosaur fossil excavation sites. Spanning an expansive area, this learning park features over 50 life-sized dinosaur sculptures, meticulously crafted to represent the species first discovered in Thailand. Notable highlights include the Phuwiangosaurus sirindhornae, a massive long-necked sauropod named after HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and the Siamotyrannus isanensis, a formidable ancestor of the T-Rex discovered in the Isan soil.
What sets this park apart from conventional dinosaur exhibitions is its dedication to recreating the ecosystem of the Early Cretaceous period. The sculptures are strategically positioned amidst artificial rock formations, cascading waterfalls, fountains, and lush tropical greenery to provide a truly immersive atmosphere. Many of these statues are equipped with advanced animatronics and motion sensors; as visitors approach, these prehistoric giants come to life—moving their necks, swinging their tails, and emitting resonant roars that echo through the park. This creates a thrilling and realistic experience, especially for children and those fascinated by the creatures that ruled the earth over 130 million years ago.
Beyond its role as an entertainment destination, Si Wiang Dinosaur Park serves as a comprehensive open-air museum. Educational plaques are stationed throughout the park, offering detailed insights into the physical attributes, behavioral patterns, and academic significance of each species. The surrounding grounds are expertly landscaped to serve as a perfect recreational spot, featuring playgrounds, event plazas, and numerous scenic photo opportunities. It is not merely a rest stop on the way to the Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum but a vital landmark that captures the natural heritage and historical pride of Khon Kaen province.

Travel Tips
-
It's recommended to arrive in the morning (8:30 AM - 10:00 AM) or in the afternoon (4:00 PM onwards), as most of the area is outdoors and it gets very hot around midday. Visiting in the evening also offers the perfect orange sunset light for realistic photos of the dinosaur sculptures.
-
Bring an umbrella, hat, or sunglasses, and apply sunscreen, as some parts of the nature trails lack shade.
-
If bringing children, ensure they have small bottles of water and wear comfortable walking shoes, as children tend to get excited and run around the spacious park.
-
A major highlight is the large dinosaur sculptures near the entrance and by the fountain, offering stunning panoramic views with the Phu Wiang mountain range as a backdrop.
-
This park is located approximately 3-4 kilometers before the "Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum." It's recommended to visit Sri Wiang Park first (which is free to enter and outdoors) before visiting the museum to see the actual fossils when the weather starts to get hot.
-
Since admission is free and there are food/rest areas within the park, please help maintain cleanliness and dispose of trash in designated areas to preserve the beautiful scenery. Although the model appears sturdy, care should be taken to prevent children from climbing on the model or the simulated rocks, as this could lead to accidents or damage the internal mechanisms.
