“Distinctive khit fabric with intricate handwoven craftsmanship, preserving traditional local wisdom. Watch the real weaving process and shop high-quality OTOP traditional textiles.”

Ban Non Sala Khit Weaving Group is a cultural tourism community rooted in long-standing local wisdom in Phu Khiao District, Chaiyaphum Province. The villagers have continuously inherited the art of khit weaving from their ancestors for generations, dating back to a time when weaving was a household craft used to produce clothing for daily life as well as ceremonial garments for merit-making events, weddings, and local traditions. As market demand grew, the community organized itself into a professional weaving group to further develop and enhance the craftsmanship. Improvements have been made in weaving quality, pattern design, natural dyeing techniques, and product development, eventually elevating their textiles into well-known OTOP products of Chaiyaphum Province.

A key highlight of Ban Non Sala textiles is the distinctive “raised khit pattern,” known for its fine detail and consistent structure. This design is created using a highly skilled supplementary-weft weaving technique that requires patience, precision, and experience. The resulting patterns are sharp, dimensional, and strongly reflect the cultural identity of the Isan South region. In addition to khit fabrics, the community also produces mudmee silk and cotton textiles dyed with natural materials derived from local plants such as tree bark, leaves, and wood extracts. These natural dyes create soft, harmonious tones that are environmentally friendly and safe for wear, suitable for both everyday use and contemporary fashion.

For experiential tourism, visitors can observe the complete textile production process, from yarn preparation and cotton spinning to natural dyeing and loom weaving. Local artisans provide close explanations throughout the process, and visitors are also welcome to participate in hands-on workshops such as silk reeling, pattern tying, and traditional loom weaving. Moreover, the village offers an authentic glimpse into a simple and warm rural lifestyle. Visitors can engage with local weavers and community members, gaining insight into Isan culture through meaningful interactions. This experience reflects not only cultural value but also the importance of community-based economy and sustainable preservation of local heritage.
