“A lush green park spanning over 375 rai with a 3-kilometer cycling path and nature attractions like the Bangkok Butterfly Garden.”
Suan Rot Fai, officially named Wachirabenchathat Park, is one of Bangkok’s largest and most cherished public parks. Once the former golf course of the State Railway of Thailand, it earned the nickname “Suan Rot Fai” or “Railway Park.” In 2002, King Vajiralongkorn (then Crown Prince) officially renamed the area to “Wachirabenchathat Park” in honor of his 50th birthday.
Strategically located in Chatuchak and connected to Queen Sirikit Park and Chatuchak Park, Suan Rot Fai forms part of a massive green lung in Bangkok, totaling more than 375 rai (approx. 148 acres).
The park is best known for its dedicated 3-kilometer bicycle track, which winds through trees, open fields, and serene ponds—perfect for cyclists of all levels. It also features separate walking and jogging paths for health-conscious visitors.
One of the park’s key attractions is the Bangkok Butterfly and Insect Garden, an educational mini-ecosystem featuring live butterflies and insects. Families and nature lovers can explore its greenhouse and exhibitions free of charge.
