“Khlong Narai Waterfall is one of the 18 sacred water sources across the country, the water from which is used in the royal coronation ceremony, the ceremony to proclaim a monarch.”
Khlong Narai Waterfall is located in Khlong Narai Sub-district, Mueang Chanthaburi District. It is categorized as a medium-sized waterfall with a height_ of about 25 meters, featuring beautiful tiered cascades flowing down a steep cliff face throughout the year. Being situated within a humid rainforest area, the waterfall maintains clean, clear water and a substantial flow almost year-round. The surrounding atmosphere is tranquil and shaded by a variety of lush green flora, providing a refreshing experience for nature lovers.
The historical highlight of this waterfall is that it is one of the 18 sacred water sources nationwide used in important royal ceremonies. In the past, the basin known as “Ang Song” or “Ang Hong” was once the royal bathing site of King Rama IV and King Rama V during their visits. There are also traces of the memorial stupa that King Rama IV commissioned to commemorate himself and King Rama V.
Accessing the waterfall requires a hike through the rainforest of approximately 2.5 kilometers from the park protection unit. Despite the walk, the trail is considered comfortable and not overly steep, allowing visitors to appreciate the abundant nature and the stream along the way. Tourists can swim in the pools near the waterfall, though caution should be exercised when walking on the potentially slippery rocks. This is an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation, fresh air, and historical knowledge combined with a nature adventure.
