“A lush city park featuring a large central reservoir, spacious activity areas, and scenic lakeside jogging paths, providing a perfect environment for family relaxation.”
Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Park, Chachoengsao, is a large public park located in the heart of Chachoengsao city, in front of the provincial hall, in Na Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Chachoengsao District. This park was established to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Srinagarindra, or "the Queen Mother," on the occasion of her 80th birthday. It is considered one of the first Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Parks in the country built according to her royal initiative to provide a green space for the public. The park covers approximately 90 rai (about 36 acres) and features a large lake as its central landscape element, surrounded by large trees, lawns, and ornamental gardens that are meticulously maintained, creating a shady and cool atmosphere throughout the day.
A key feature of the park is its design, providing a recreational and exercise area for people of all ages. Walking paths around the lake are convenient for walking, jogging, and light cycling. In the mornings and evenings, many people come to exercise, engage in recreational activities, and relax with their families. The area also includes rest pavilions, playgrounds, and activity areas that are regularly used for community and provincial events. Due to its location near government offices and the urban community, this park has long been an important public space contributing to the lives of the people of Chachoengsao.
The park features landscape architecture elements that reflect the concept of a modern public park, seamlessly blending nature with urban use. Large trees planted around the pond provide shade and reduce the temperature within the area, while the large body of water in the center acts as a water reservoir, maintaining humidity in the surrounding area. Flowering plants, ornamental trees, and sculptures are arranged within the park to enhance its beauty and provide visual focal points for visitors. Many viewpoints offer views of the pond and trees reflecting the morning or sunset, creating a popular atmosphere for those who enjoy photography and peaceful relaxation.
Somdej Phra Srinakarin Park in Chachoengsao is also considered one of the "lungs of the city," helping to balance the continuously expanding economic and community areas. Having a large green space in the heart of the city allows people easy access to nature, reduces urban congestion, and improves the quality of life for local residents. Therefore, the park is not just a place for relaxation, but also a space that connects community members, facilitating exercise, social gatherings, and various public activities for Chachoengsao province.
Historically, the park was officially opened in 1986 by Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, who presided over the opening ceremony. This public park is of significant both symbolic and social importance to Chachoengsao province. Currently, the park is continuously maintained by local authorities and remains a popular destination for tourists seeking relaxation in nature within the city, as well as those visiting nearby landmarks such as Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan and the Bang Pakong River.
