“Experience one of Japan’s New Three Major Night Views with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Sapporo, accessed via a scenic ropeway and a unique eco-friendly cable car.”
Mount Moiwa, standing at 531 meters above sea level, is one of Sapporo’s most celebrated natural landmarks and a nationally recognized night-view destination. It has been officially selected as one of the “New Three Major Night Views of Japan”, alongside Kitakyushu and Nagasaki, making it a must-visit attraction for both domestic and international travelers.
From the summit observatory, visitors are treated to a sweeping 360-degree view of Sapporo’s distinctive grid-style city layout, the coastline of Ishikari Bay, and the surrounding mountain ranges. Each season offers a unique atmosphere: fresh greenery in spring, clear blue skies in summer, warm autumn hues, and sparkling snow-covered cityscapes in winter.
A highlight at the summit is the Bell of Happiness, a romantic symbol where couples ring a silver bell together and may attach “love padlocks” to the railings, creating a gentle, romantic ambiance without overwhelming the natural scenery.
Reaching the summit is an experience in itself. The ascent combines a modern high-capacity ropeway with the innovative “Moris Car,” the world’s first drive-type mini cable car. This environmentally friendly system provides a smooth, quiet ride while offering beautiful views along the way.
