Khao Kalok, officially part of the Thao Kosa Forest Park, is a small limestone hill that juts out into the sea. It is famous for its unique structure that, when viewed from the sea, resembles a human skull, specifically featuring a large natural opening that looks like an empty eye socket, which is the origin of the intriguing name "Khao Kalok" (Skull Mountain). This hill is situated at the end of the Pranburi coastline, providing a beautiful and imposing backdrop to the surrounding beaches.

At the base of Khao Kalok lies Khao Kalok Beach or Naresuan Beach, a stretch of clean, highly private sand. This beach is special because it is framed by the limestone hill, creating a small, peaceful bay ideal for swimming. Tourists can stroll along the pale brown sand and enjoy the clear sea water, with the oddly shaped mountain serving as a prominent focal point.

For the adventurous, Khao Kalok offers a nature trail leading to a viewpoint. Although the distance is short (about 150-300 meters) and the height_ is only about 25 meters, the path is quite steep and requires some climbing. Upon reaching the summit, visitors are rewarded with a 360-degree panoramic view that overlooks the Pranburi coastline, the Pranburi River mouth, and the surrounding mountains of Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park. Beachside activities include kayaking and peaceful swimming.

In terms of culture and legend, at the foot of the hill is the San Chao Mae Thapthim Thong Shrine, revered by locals, and not far away is Wat Khao Kalok, featuring a magnificent golden chapel. Private Car:

• Drive along Phetkasem Road (Highway 4) heading south from Hua Hin into the Pranburi area, then follow the signs to Pak Nam Pran and Khao Kalok Beach.

Public Transportation:

• Take a public van or bus to Pranburi District, then transfer to a motorcycle taxi or Songthaew (local bus) to the Thao Kosa Forest Park area.

Footwear:

• If you plan to hike up Khao Kalok to the viewpoint, you should wear proper hiking shoes or sports shoes, as the trail is steep and rocky.

Photography:

• The most beautiful times for photos are during sunrise or sunset, which helps highlight the mountain's dramatic shape.

Activities:
