“6-level grand pagoda featuring a museum and sacred Buddha relics, beautifully designed with traditional Thai Kanok patterns and a golden spire, offering a panoramic mountain viewpoint with stunning scenery.”

Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol is an important Buddhist site of the Isan forest monk tradition. It was built through the devotion of Luang Pu Sri Maha Wiro and his disciples as an act of homage to the Buddha and as a spiritual center for Buddhists. The concept behind its construction was not focused solely on grandeur, but on reflecting faith and the stability of Buddhism in northeastern Thailand. The pagoda was designed by the Fine Arts Department of Thailand, combining multiple Thai architectural styles, including Rattanakosin art expressed through elegant Kanok motifs, traditional Lan Chang–Isan aesthetics emphasizing simplicity and dignity, and contemporary architectural design using large-scale reinforced concrete structures. As a result, the chedi reflects both traditional beauty and modern structural strength.

The structure is built to a symbolic dimension of 101 meters in width_, length, and height_. This number represents perfection and spiritual progress, as well as the identity of Roi Et Province, symbolizing prosperity and diversity in Buddhist art and culture. The interior is divided into six levels, each with its own spiritual meaning. The lower level serves as a space for religious ceremonies and activities, followed by exhibition and learning areas. The middle levels enshrine statues of revered monks. The fourth level serves as a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the temple surroundings. The fifth level is a museum and exhibition area, while the top level enshrines sacred Buddha relics brought from Sri Lanka, representing the highest spiritual center of the chedi.

Located on a hill in Nong Phok District, the site offers a wide panoramic view of the natural landscape. The environment is peaceful and suitable for meditation, cultural visits, and religious tourism.Inside the chedi, there are also finely crafted artworks, including murals, Buddha images, and stucco decorations that depict Buddhist stories in depth. This makes the site not only a religious place but also a museum and a learning center for Buddhist art.Today, Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol serves as a meditation site, a Buddhist learning center, and one of the major tourist attractions in Roi Et Province, continuously attracting visitors from all over Thailand.
