“Worship the exquisite marble replica of the Buddha Footprint inside the ornate Thai-style mandapa, and enjoy the views of the Chonmarkvithi Bridge and Bang Sai Bay curve from the most beautiful vantage point in the province.”

Khao Phra Phutthabat Bang Sai Temple  is a Third-Class Royal Temple, Worawihan type, holding immense historical importance for Chon Buri Province. Located at the foot of Phra Phutthabat Hill or "Khao Din," the temple area is expansive and divided into two main sections: the plains at the base and the hilltop area. The temple's history dates back to the Ayutthaya Period, and it underwent major restorations during the reigns of King Rama IV and King Rama V of the Rattanakosin era. Due to its historical connection with royal architects and master craftsmen, the temple buildings showcase exquisite artistry that perfectly blends traditional art with simplicity.

The most valuable highlight is the Mondop (Mandapa) enshrining the Buddha Footprint, which stands majestically on the hilltop. Inside lies a replica of the Buddha’s footprint crafted from pristine white marble, surrounded by a cloister filled with various Buddha images in peaceful poses. Reaching the summit can be done by walking up the long Naga Staircase, symbolizing the transition from the secular world to the land of the Buddha. Along the way, you will encounter various flora and a constant sea breeze, making the ascent pleasant and deeply tranquil.

The atmosphere of the temple during the morning and evening is truly special, especially on significant religious days such as the end of Buddhist Lent (Awk Phansa). This is when the Tak Bat Devo tradition the most famous in the East takes place. Hundreds of monks walk down from the hilltop to receive alms from devotees lined up along the hillside, creating a scene filled with spiritual power and cultural beauty. On regular days, visitors will experience a rare tranquility within Mueang Chon Buri, ideal for mental relaxation and escaping the city’s hustle.

From a photography and art perspective, this temple is a strategic vantage point because it overlooks the "Chonmarkvithi Bridge" (Chon Buri Seaside Bridge) at a perfect distance. Looking down, you can see the local fishing way of life and the city’s expansion contrasting with the blue sea. In the evening, when the orange sunset hits the mandapa roof, it creates a scene as beautiful as a painting, attracting professional photographers and couples seeking a romantic yet solemn atmosphere to capture their memories.

Wat Khao Phra Phutthabat Bang Sai is not just a tourist attraction, but a living historical record where nature and faith meet perfectly. For anyone visiting Chon Buri, stopping by to pay respects and receive positive energy here is an experience that should not be missed.
