“ Chi Long Forest Park, a natural river island surrounded by lush Yang Na forest, offers peaceful scenery with beautiful water reflections. Perfect for relaxation, photography, and activities near Mahasarakham University. ”

Chi Long Forest Park is a natural conservation area in Kantharawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province. It serves both as a tourist destination and an important ecological learning site for local communities and students in the area. The park was officially established by the Royal Forest Department on April 24, 1982, to protect the natural ecosystem along the old Chi Long River. Its distinctive feature is a “river island” formed by the historical change in the Chi River’s course, where natural erosion created a narrow neck that separated the land into an isolated area.

The area covers approximately 119 rai and is covered by relatively intact natural forest, consisting of a mix of riparian forest and dry evergreen forest. This creates a cool, shaded, and humid environment throughout the day.Key plant species include Yang Na trees and various native hardwoods such as rosewood and ironwood, which provide shade and help maintain ecological balance. The ecosystem supports a variety of wildlife, including birds, insects, and small animals, which are most active during early morning and late afternoon.

The landscape is uniquely characterized by water surrounding the area on all sides, creating 360-degree reflections of trees on the calm water surface, offering a peaceful and scenic view.Visitors can enjoy various activities such as cycling around the island, nature walking trails, or relaxing under large trees in a quiet environment.Popular water activities include kayaking, paddle boating, and riverbank water play, suitable for families and general tourists. The park also provides a camping ground for overnight stays, offering a simple eco-tourism experience with basic facilities such as restrooms and park ranger supervision. The best time to visit is in the morning or late afternoon when the weather is cooler and natural lighting enhances the beauty of the scenery.Chi Long Forest Park is therefore both a natural recreational area and an important ecological learning site in Maha Sarakham Province.
