“A peaceful reservoir with a refreshing atmosphere, ideal for relaxation and exercise. It features a 2.6 km loop trail around the lake and is located near Kosum Phi Forest Park, a nearby tourist attraction.”
Bueng Bon is a large natural water body that plays an important role in environmental, ecological, and community functions in Kosum Phisai District. It covers an area of approximately 120 rai with an average depth of around 2.5 meters. The area is a semi-natural reservoir that has been partially landscaped to support public use.In terms of ecology, the reservoir serves as a seasonal water storage area, helping reduce flooding during the rainy season and acting as a water reserve during the dry season. It is also a habitat for local aquatic life such as small fish, frogs, and other native species, as well as aquatic plants that help maintain the balance of the local watershed ecosystem.
Regarding landscape and development, a 2,689-meter road has been constructed around the reservoir, transforming the area into a semi-public recreational park. It supports a wide range of activities for people of all ages, including walking, jogging, cycling, and relaxing by the water. The open surroundings allow continuous airflow throughout the day, especially in the early morning and late afternoon when the weather is cooler and more suitable for outdoor activities. From a tourism perspective, Bueng Bon serves as an important connecting point to nearby attractions, particularly Kosum Phi Forest Park, which is located very close by. This allows visitors to conveniently plan half-day or full-day trips, such as observing golden macaques, taking light nature walks, and then relaxing by the reservoir afterward.
In addition, the area reflects traditional Isan community life, characterized by simplicity, a slow-paced lifestyle, and the use of natural spaces as social hubs. Local residents often use the area for meeting, exercising, and family activities in the evenings. As a result, Bueng Bon is not only a tourist attraction but also a “living space” that plays an essential role in the daily life of the surrounding community.
