It is a cultural tourism destination that offers tourists the opportunity to experience local wisdom firsthand.
Way of Life and Occupation
The Pga K'nyau people of Ban Huai Hla live simply, tied to seasonal agriculture such as growing longan, onions, and garlic. When free from farm work, the women in the village gather to weave fabric under their houses, reflecting the warmth and cooperation within the community.
Backstrap Loom Weaving Wisdom
A key highlight is weaving using a Backstrap Loom, where the weaver uses their body as part of the tool, skillfully controlling the tension of the yarn to create a tightly woven fabric with intricate patterns and high durability. Popular products include traditional Karen shirts, shoulder bags, shawls, and woven fabrics decorated with Job's tears using natural dyes.
Huai Hla Karen Weaving Center
The community has established a weaving center to collect products and welcome visitors. Tourists can observe the entire process from spinning yarn and dyeing with natural colors to the completed weaving, and purchase products directly from the weavers, truly supporting community income.
