“The waterfall flows over rocky terraces into the Lam Dom Noi River, surrounded by lush forest. It is ideal for relaxing, photography, and especially stunning from July to October when the water is abundant.”
Huai Sai Yai Waterfall, also locally known as “Kaeng E Kiew,” is located within the Buntharik-Khao Yod Mon Wildlife Sanctuary and is a major natural attraction of Buntharik District, Ubon Ratchathani.
The waterfall originates from Phu Foy Lom in the Phanom Dong Rak mountain range, about 7 km away. The Huai Sai Yai stream winds and erodes the terrain, creating several small cascades that flow over rocky terraces down to Lam Dom Noi at Ban Huai Sai, approximately 9 km from the waterfall, eventually reaching Sirindhorn Dam. The waterfall stretches over 9 kilometers, with the heaviest water flow occurring from July to October, forming a beautiful white curtain of water ideal for swimming, relaxation, and photography.
The area around the waterfall is shaded and rich in natural life. Visitors can observe local wildlife, including birds, squirrels, monkeys, and colorful butterflies. Unique to the area is the hairy crab, a species found only here. The combination of forest, stream, and wildlife makes the site a natural classroom for ecological learning.
Huai Sai Yai Waterfall attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually and has been promoted as a key tourist destination in Buntharik District. Its serene environment and rich biodiversity provide a perfect escape for both tourists and locals seeking nature, adventure, and relaxation.
