“One of the most beautiful roadside mist-viewpoints in Thailand, offering panoramic views of thick clouds hovering over the Moei River and Myanmar’s mountains, with very convenient access from the main road.”
Mon Krathing is one of the most popular “mons” (mountain viewpoints) in Tha Song Yang District, standing out for its easy access compared to Mon Pui Mok or Mon Kiew Lom.
Scenery: The viewpoint sits on a hillside sloping down to the Moei River. In the early morning, dense mist forms along the river, creating a white sea that separates Thailand from Myanmar.
Origin of the Name: It is said that in the past, the area was densely forested and served as a habitat for wild banteng (Asian wild cattle).
Facilities and Convenience: There are pavilions and a spacious parking area right by the road, making it suitable for visitors of all ages. It is an ideal resting spot for travelers along the Mae Sot–Mae Sariang route.
How to Get There
By Car:
- Accessible via Highway 105 (Mae Sot–Mae Sariang). From Mae Sot, drive approximately 50–60 km toward Tha Song Yang. The viewpoint is clearly visible from the road, with signs and pavilions marking the spot. All types of vehicles, including cars and vans, can reach the location easily.
