Ban Palatha is an ancient Pakakayor Karen village located in Umphang District, Tak Province. The village is distinguished by its well-preserved traditional lifestyle, customs, and tribal culture, which remain simple and deeply connected to the surrounding natural environment. As a result, Ban Palatha has gained recognition as an important eco-cultural tourism destination.

Pahlatha Waterfall Forest Park

Lu Kho Pha Tho Viewpoint

One of Umphang’s most iconic highlights, offering a 360-degree panoramic sea of mist. The mist often remains visible until around 08:00–09:00 AM, earning the nickname “the sea of mist viewpoint for late risers.”


How to Get There

By car:

  • Access roads to Ban Palatha and the viewpoint are remote and rugged. A 4-wheel-drive (4x4) vehicle is highly recommended, especially during the rainy season, due to dirt roads and muddy conditions.

  • The best season for mist viewing is winter (November–February) before 09:00 AM
