“A highly natural and unspoiled atmosphere, with shallow waters safe for children, a refreshing sea breeze throughout the day, and a beautiful spot for sunrise viewing.”

Sathing Phra Beach is geographically distinctive, located along a long sandbar that separates the Gulf of Thailand from Songkhla Lake. This unique setting creates a mixed ecosystem of saltwater and brackish water, while preserving a traditional coastal lifestyle that remains largely unchanged.

The beach extends for several kilometers, running parallel to Highway 408, making it easily accessible from multiple entry points. Its sand is light brown and fine-textured—not as white as beaches on the Andaman coast—but firm and comfortable for walking, jogging, and other seaside activities.

The shoreline is lined with rows of coconut palms and pine trees, which enhance the natural scenery and help prevent coastal erosion. These trees also provide shade, allowing visitors to enjoy the beach throughout the day, even under strong sunlight.

The sea here has a gentle slope, with relatively shallow water and mild waves, especially outside the monsoon season. This makes it safe and suitable for children and families. However, the water may appear greenish-brown due to natural sediment from the nearby lake and coastline, rather than the clear blue typical of more famous beaches.

The surrounding area is developed at a simple community level, featuring small parks, seating areas, pavilions, and picnic spots. It remains quiet and uncrowded, with minimal large-scale commercial development, preserving its peaceful and natural atmosphere.

Local life is still closely connected to traditional fishing. Visitors can often see small fishing boats, nets, and local fishermen heading out in the early morning or late afternoon, reflecting the authentic character of the area.

Nearby stands the Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse Monument, a respected monument where sailors and visitors come to pay their respects for good fortune, adding cultural significance to the beach.

Sathing Phra Beach is especially known for its beautiful sunrise views. Facing east, it offers a wide, unobstructed horizon, making it one of the best spots to watch the sunrise in Songkhla.

Rather than luxury or vibrant entertainment, Sathing Phra Beach stands out for its tranquility, natural charm, and authentic local way of life—ideal for those seeking a peaceful and simple seaside escape.

How to Get There
  • By Car: From Songkhla city, take Highway 408 (Songkhla–Ranot) for approximately 35 kilometers, then turn toward the beach and continue for about 1 kilometer

Travel Tips
  • Bring a picnic mat or your own picnic gear, as the beach is mostly natural with limited commercial facilities.
  • Visit early in the morning to catch the sunrise, which is the most beautiful time of the day here.
  • Avoid the monsoon season (around late year), as waves can be stronger and the water may be murkier.
  • Try local seafood or fresh coconut ice cream from nearby vendors, which are affordable and freshly made.
