“Wat Namtok Hin Lad is distinguished by its forest temple and wooden pavilions, blending harmoniously with nature. It is a Vipassana meditation center amidst the sound of streams, featuring a stone bridge across the waterfall and a sanctuary teeming with natural fish.”

Wat Namtok Hin Lad is a forest temple that maintains simplicity and adheres strictly to Dharma practice. It is also an important Vipassana meditation center on Koh Samui, located next to the Hin Lad Waterfall stream, which flows throughout the year, creating a cool, shady, and peaceful atmosphere within the temple.

The temple's uniqueness lies in its simple forest temple style. Most buildings are wooden pavilions and structures made from natural materials, emphasizing harmony with the environment rather than luxury. Buddha images are enshrined on rocks, under trees, and along the stream, creating a solemn and faithful atmosphere. The stream area is also a protected area, with various kinds of natural fish swimming around at all times.

Visitors can use this area for walking meditation by the water or sitting in meditation listening to the sounds of nature to train their minds to be calm and mindful, providing a deep and different kind of relaxation than general tourism.

Another must-see spot is the stone bridge across the stream, a popular viewpoint and photo spot. Tourists often stop to admire the schools of fish and nature before starting the trek to the upper levels of Hin Lad Waterfall, making this temple both a starting point for exploring nature and a journey to inner peace.

Within the temple, there is also a Buddhist History Garden that displays the stories of the Buddha and his teachings through art in the forest, providing visitors with knowledge, peace, and inspiration.

How to Get There
