“Wat Lamai is distinguished by its folklore museum, which houses important antiques, including an ancient bronze drum, a beautiful Buddhist art hall, and serves as the spiritual center of the Lamai community.”
Wat Lamai is an ancient temple that has played a significant role in the history and way of life of the people of Koh Samui for a long time. Located in the heart of Lamai, one of the most vibrant areas of the island, the temple is filled with peace and tranquility, ideal for making merit and relaxing the mind.
A key feature here is the Wat Lamai Folklore Museum, which is like a 'living museum' that collects rare antiques such as coconut husking tools, storm lanterns, agricultural tools, and a bronze drum over 2,000 years old that clearly reflects the cultural roots of the Samui people.
The atmosphere inside the temple is surrounded by large trees, providing shade throughout the day, along with a contemporary Thai-style hall that is exquisite and beautiful, ideal for worshiping the principal Buddha image and admiring the artworks, as well as taking pictures in a peaceful and beautiful corner.
In addition, Wat Lamai is also a center of the community, which often hosts traditional festivals and important local activities, allowing visitors to experience faith, culture, and the way of life of the Samui people in a deeper dimension.
Wat Lamai is not just a place of worship, but a bridge connecting time that takes visitors back to the past and truly understand the identity of Koh Samui.
