“Thao To Waterfall Forest Park is a small yet scenic waterfall formed by cascading sandstone layers. The park is home to the sacred Pu Luep Shrine, revered by locals, and offers a breathtaking cliff-top viewpoint where visitors can enjoy sweeping views of Nong Bua Lamphu town.”
Thao To Waterfall Forest Park is located in Lamphu Subdistrict, Mueang Nong Bua Lamphu District, just 3–5 kilometers from downtown Nong Bua Lamphu. This forest park is well-preserved and covered by a mixed deciduous forest, creating a cool and shady environment all year round. The area is rich in vegetation, small wildlife, and unique rock formations scattered throughout the park.
The waterfall itself flows down from a high sandstone cliff, with its peak beauty during the rainy season (June to October), when water flows continuously, forming clear cascades and natural pools suitable for safe swimming. During the dry season, the water level decreases, but the park still maintains its serene and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for relaxation.
In addition to its natural beauty, the site is home to sacred landmarks, most notably the Pu Luep Shrine, worshiped by locals for generations. According to folklore, Pu Luep was an ancient warrior who protected this land. The name “Thao To” is linked to a local legend of a hermit who once lived in the area, using large rocks as his seat and meditation ground.
Another highlight is the cliff-top viewpoint known as Pha Thao To. From here, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Nong Bua Lamphu town and nearby wetlands, making it a perfect spot to watch sunrise and sunset. It is both a place of natural wonder and spiritual calmness, offering visitors a blend of tranquility and awe-inspiring scenery.
