“ The highest peak in Krabi, featuring lush rainforests, rare bird species, and the stunning 11-tiered Huai To Waterfall. A true paradise for nature enthusiasts. ”

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park protects the most pristine and expansive evergreen forest in Krabi Province, covering approximately 50 square kilometers across Mueang, Ao Luek, and Khao Phanom districts. The topography is defined by a rugged mountain range stretching from north to south, culminating in "Khao Phanom Bencha Peak," the province's highest point at 1,397 meters above sea level. This mountainous terrain serves as a vital primary watershed for the region, giving birth to essential watercourses such as Khlong Krabi Yai and Khlong Pakasai, which sustain local agriculture before flowing into the Andaman Sea.

The park's biological significance is marked by its exceptional biodiversity within its dense tropical rainforest. The flora includes high-value timber and botanical species such as Dipterocarpus, Hopea odorata, and Intsia palembanica. It is also an internationally recognized haven for birdwatchers, with official records documenting over 218 bird species, including the Mangrove Pitta, White-crowned Hornbill, and Great Hornbill. Mammalian wildlife is equally diverse; the park remains a habitat for protected species like the Mainland Serow, Malayan Tapir, Indochinese Tiger, Barking Deer, and White-handed Gibbon, indicating a highly stable and healthy ecosystem.

The park's most iconic landmark is "Huai To Waterfall," which originates from the Phanom Bencha peaks and cascades down 11 distinct tiers. Each level features wide, crystal-clear pools that reveal the sandy riverbed beneath, with the first three tiers being the most popular for swimming and relaxation. Beyond the waterfalls, visitors can explore Tham Na Tang (Window Cave), a large limestone cavern featuring natural skylights that illuminate the interior. Another highlight is the "Koh Nang Non" viewpoint, offering panoramic vistas of the mountain silhouettes which, according to local legend and geographical observation, resemble the profile of a reclining woman with flowing hair.

How to Get There
  • From Krabi Town, take Highway 4 (Phet Kasem Road) towards Thab Prik. Approximately 1 km from the Talat Kao intersection, turn left onto rural road Kor Bor 1016 and continue for about 20 km to reach the park entrance.
